what is yin yoga?
yin yoga is a practice of long-held seated poses. we hold poses in stillness from 2–6 min, depending on the pose and the individual.
through physical stillness and with time, we safely stress the connective tissues (joints, fascia, bones, ligaments, tendons) and allow the body the chance to open up and release. this is the physical aspect.
but through slowing down the breath and keeping the body still, you can drop down into your parasympathetic nervous system—the system for rest & rejuvenation.
with physical stillness you have the opportunity to observe your mind and the quality of your thoughts from a place of nonjudgment. it's an opportunity to become more sensitive to your energy, the sensations in your body, and the state of your mind.
yin yoga is essentially a series of mini meditations :)

what is yoga nidra?
think of this as a guided journey that you go on while lying down with eyes closed. Yoga Nidrā [Sanskrit for Yogic Sleep] is an ancient practice that promotes full body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. It’s a practice in surrendering to the subconscious as you allow your physical body to slip into a sleeplike state. Yoga Nidra is an effective practice in relieving stress, boosting the immune system, and not only rejuvenating but actually reprogramming the body & mind.
