Yin Yoga with Sound Healing in the High Desert

  • Tumbleweed Sanctuary Labrinyth & Garden 57889 Pueblo Trail Yucca Valley, CA 92284 USA (map)

join Ryan Mussen of Full Moon Ceremonies and myself as we merge two healing practices—the rejuvenating and restorative practice of yin yoga with the healing potential of live sound healing.

yin yoga is a series of long-held seated poses that aim to stress the connective tissues of our bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and fascia. by consciously relaxing the muscles, these applied stresses work to stimulate Qi (energy) that otherwise remains blocked or stuck in the body. as we come out of the poses slowly, we allow ourselves to feel how this energy moves through us. as this newly unblocked energy begins to move more freely throughout the body, our tissues and organs are given the opportunity to heal. beyond the more obvious physical benefits, there is an emotional and mental aspect to this practice of stillness as well, as we hold poses from 2–6 minutes at a time.

with the accompaniment of Tibetan singling bowls, theta-tuned crystal bowls, and live acoustic guitar, we are drawn into a deeper state of relaxation. expect to endure times of elevated tension (physically and mentally) counterbalanced with a sweet, sweet release.

to close out the evening, we’ll go through a guided Yoga Nidra-style body scan to aid our bodies and hearts into a state of receptivity, setting us up for the healing potential of sound as Ryan plays an extended Soundbath Savasana for us.

blankets and blocks will be provided. please bring your yoga mat and wear comfortable, loose clothing. layers are encouraged!
