Theta State of Mind

a journey of
Yin•Yoga•Nidra•Sound
with @keah.konrad
&
Zachariah Matthew
(aka @madzachofficial)

join us for a special Sunday evening as we merge yin yoga, yoga nidra, and live sound to awaken to our creative, restorative, and healing states of being.

__________________________________________________________

in the first part of the night we’ll briefly talk about techniques for discovering one’s Sankalpa (the unique intention you choose for yourself to use during Yoga Nidra). from there we’ll move through a series of long-held seated poses (yin yoga). here you’ll explore your physical, mental, and emotional edges as we hold poses for 2–6 minutes at a time - through the use of breath awareness, physical stillness, and the passing of time, we can safely stress our connective tissues to release tension and blocked energy (Qi) while also increasing our awareness of our energy.

we’ll lie down for an extended Savasana — what is considered the most important & beneficial pose of one’s practice — in the form of Yoga Nidra. Keah and Zach will guide us on a journey to drop down further into the alpha and theta states as we allow the the physical body to fall asleep while the thinking-analytical part of our mind slips away as well.

Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is an ancient tantric practice as well as a state of consciousness: it's a practice in increasing one’s awareness while inside the alpha and theta-brainwave dominant states of consciousness. Theta brainwave state is like the doorway into one’s creativity, insight, intuition, and learning. and Yoga Nidra is like extending that twilight zone of theta, this dreamlike state when you’re in between awake & asleep. because in this state, the subconscious mind is like a sponge, open and receptive to new information. with a regular YN practice, you can create a new operating system by reprogramming limiting beliefs and forming new positively-intentioned neural pathways in the brain .

combined with live sounds — ancient flutes, deep bass, and ambient beats — the potential for healing is limitless. since the sounds created cannot be predicted by the thinking-analytical mind, this, too supports the brain waves to slow down to a profoundly relaxing and restorative Theta state.

there’s much more to be said about the potential and possibilities of this practice, but we like to let the experience speak for itself. if you’re curious, come be part of the collective experiment on:
